We’re a team made up of people who genuinely love dogs, exploring, and just being out in our breathtaking nature. We’re here to give you an amazing time on the sled, but more than anything, we want to make sure you’re safe and having fun the whole way. Our huskies are full of energy and the Icelandic scenery is incredible, that’s what gets people interested in the first place. But what really makes us different is our crew. We’re all really passionate about what we do, and we think that shows. We’re not just mushers, we’re people who want to share this experience with you and make it something you’ll always remember.
Let’s talk about our huskies. We know they’re a big reason why people come visit, and honestly, they deserve all the attention. Sure, our husky journeys have amazing views, adrenaline, and a real adventure feel, but it’s the dogs that truly make it special. They’re the heart and soul of Husky Iceland, and we simply couldn’t operate without them. These dogs are friendly, they work incredibly hard, they’re playful, and of course, they’re super cute. We treat them like part of our family, and they show us just as much love back. So, let’s introduce you to our wonderful pack.
At Husky Iceland, the well-being of our dogs is our top priority. During summer, the adjacent river Leirvogsa offers a perfect spot for the huskies to cool down after long hikes, and they have the chance to swim and enjoy the refreshing waters.
Our modern, secure kennels are built to the highest Icelandic animal welfare standards, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for every dog. Elevated benches provide shade during warmer months, while the integrated ground/flooring offers a cozy resting place. For winter, the kennels are insulated to protect the dogs from Iceland’s extreme cold. With a large run, the dogs have plenty of space to play and enjoy themselves, and to strengthen their bond with their two-legged friends, the huskies can take turns staying overnight in the house with us. This helps to enhance their social interactions and enrich their lives outside of their training routines.
Additionally, we offer individually bookable husky tours in both summer and winter, allowing guests to spend quality time with our dogs and provide a welcome break from their athletic schedules.
For their medical care, we work closely with an experienced veterinarian who specializes in sled dogs, ensuring they receive the best possible attention and care whenever needed. At Husky Iceland, we go the extra mile to ensure our huskies are happy, healthy, and always ready for the next adventure!
